Redskins' Laron Landry Suffers Hamstring Injury

Redskins strong safety Laron Landry has suffered a hamstring injury while working out in Indianapolis, according to Mike Shanahan. Landry has been working towards a return from an injured achilles, but now has another injury standing in his way.

ASHBURN, Va. - Laron Landry, perhaps the Redskins' top defensive playmaker, has been rehabbing his achilles for most of the preseason with the hope of possibly returning this Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens.

However, that looks unlikely now as coach Mike Shanahan revealed Sunday that the safety suffered yet another setback during the team's trip to Indianapolis to face the Colts Friday night.

"The achilles healed, but he tweaked his hamstring working out in Indy," the coach said. "Those hamstring are always day by day so we're going to have to wait and see."

Landry is a key cog to the Redskins secondary, and looks to pick up where he left off last season where he enjoyed a breakout campaign that likely would have led to his first Pro Bowl bid had it not been for the achilles injury.

It's unclear how severe this new injury is, but chances are that it makes it less likely he will be able to make it back in time to play the Ravens game come Thursday.

When asked if Landry's new injury was a concern, Shanahan didn't seem too worried.

"Let's go day by day. I don't know how bad the hamstring is," he said. "We all know hamstrings sometimes take a day or two, other times a little bit longer. We'll just have to wait and see."
