Hurricane Irene had it's way with the DMV yesterday and overnight, and now it's time to hunker down, power permitting, and relax on the couch with some sports (unless PEPCO has failed you yet again). What to watch for...
Washington Nationals vs. Cincinnati Reds: Jordan Zimmermann takes the hill for Washington in what will likely be his last appearance of the season, looking to prevent a sweep at the hands of the Reds and prevent the Nationals from losing their sixth game in a row. Johnny Cueto (9-5, 2.03) takes the mound for Cincinnati. (1:10 P.M., MASN2)
New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles: It appears the Orioles ground crew did a terrific job protecting the field, as New York and Baltimore are scheduled to start on time, and play two no less, a mere 24 hours after Irene stormed up the East Coast. Baltimore, winners of five in a row, will send Zach Britton and Brain Matusz to the hill to face Ivan Nova and Freddy Garcia of the Yankees. (1:35 P.M., MASN)
2011 LLWS Championship Game: Huntington Beach, California defeated Billings, Montana 11-2 and earned the right to face Hamamatsu City, Japan in the Little League World Series Championship in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. A Japanese team is looking to take the crown for the second year in a row. (3:00 P.M., ABC)
