Hurricane Irene Hits East Coast, DC Athletes Respond

Where would we be without twitter? With much-hyped Hurricane Irene bearing down on the East Coast, fans in 2011 not only can stay connected with the Weather Channel and local news outlets via the tweet machine, but they can read firsthand what their favorite area athletes have to say about "Insert Next Weather Phenomenon" here. In this case, I attempted to cobble together a few choice tweets from DC athletes during Irene:

D.C. United's Dwayne De Rosario echoed the sentiments of many on twitter, wishing those possibly affected by the storm well:

Prayers to all the people dealing with Mrs. Irene as she sweeps through the east.less than a minute ago via Facebook Favorite Retweet Reply

In what has to be a first, this appears to be Brandon Banks as the voice of reason:

Redskins rookie wide receiver Niles Paul, with a social dilemma. Given his precarious position on the depth chart, perhaps he should be watching film instead of heading to the movies:

To got to the movies or to not go to the movies with a hurricane brewing outside. That is the question! Lolless than a minute ago via Echofon Favorite Retweet Reply

Finally, Adam Carriker, who it seems was locked into television coverage, much like I was all night (I know, I need to get a life). I wonder if Carriker also saw sea foam guy and the Virginia beach streaker?

The new coverage of this hurricane is crazy to watch. Reporters are barely able to stand on their own two feet.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply
