2011 Legg Mason Tennis Classic Results: James Blake Upsets David Nalbandian

Some of the matches in the second round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic at the Fitzgerald Tennis Center at Rock Creek Park in Northwest D.C. and the big story surrounds American James Blake. Blake upset No. 8 seed and defending Champion David Nalbandian with a pretty thorough 6-2, 6-4 romp. According to Liz Clarke of the Washington Post, Blake knew that he had to go all out all match if he wanted to walk away with a win against Nalbandian.

Asked if he felt he had made a statement through his commanding performance, Blake said: “The only statement I was making is how much I respect David Nalbandian. I couldn’t let off the accelerator for one second. I know how talented he is.”

The other big result from the second round so far was (11) John Isner running away from Tobias Kamke 6-1, 6-3. There were also some first round matches still going on, and that included American Ryan Harrison outlasting Mischa Zverev 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.
