Carlos Rogers Never Planned On Re-Signing With The Redskins: 'Time To Move On'

Carlos Rogers spent six years with the Washington Redskins after being selected out of Auburn with the ninth overall pick in the 2005 Draft. Rogers has been solid if unspectacular in that time, playing decently in coverage but never fully living up to the expectation of being a top-ten pick. Rogers has now moved on from the Redskins, signing a one-year deal with the San Fransisco 49ers on Tuesday. Based on some comments Rogers made that were tweeted by Grant Paulsen, it seems like the split might not have been totally amicable.

Rogers: “I didn’t have any plans of going back to Washington. I wanted to go elsewhere. I thought it was time for me to move on.”

I found this one the most interesting.

I asked Rogers if the play the this season to see if he knew. No hesitation: "Week-9." Says he's "looking forward to it."

Rogers might be asking the 49ers defensive coordinator for a few cornerback blitzes in that particular contest. As you know, the Redskins signed Josh Wilson to replace Rogers, will likely rubbed him the wrong way. And it is showing in what constitutes as his exit interview.
