Washington Redskins Camp: Ryan Torain Injures Hand In Morning Session

ASHBURN, Va - Redskins starting running back Ryan Torain appeared to injure his left hand this morning in practice. He went down on a running play and was looked at by the training staff for several minutes. After the trainers wrapped his hand, Torain sat out the duration of the session.

Torain has been known to be an injury prone running back, and his inability to stay healthy has cost him a chance to become an upper echelon running back in the NFL.

He finished last season with 742 rushing yards to go along with 4 rushing touchdowns in 10 games. He missed four games due to injury.

After practice, Mike Shanahan briefly commented on Torain's injury, admitting he didn't know how severe the injury was.

"Yeah, he dinged his hand," Shanahan said. "I'm not really sure until they have some X-Rays on it exactly where he stands."

The Redskins acquired Tim Hightower over the weekend in a trade as an insurance policy just in case Torain goes down. Hightower is expected to practice tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see how many reps he gets.
