NFL Free Agency Rumors: Lofa Tatupu To Visit Redskins On Thursday

Three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Lofa Tatupu will visit with the Washington Redskins on Thursday to explore the possibility of joining the team for the 2011 season, according to 106.7 The Fan reporter Grant Paulsen. He tweeted this on Thursday:

According to a league source, former #Seahawks LB Lofa Tatupu is still scheduled to visit #Redskins Park today. 28 yr-old entering 7th year.

Tatupu is a six-year NFL veteran, and has played his entire career to date with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was a middle linebacker in their 4-3 defensive scheme. He is an unrestricted free agent.

Although only 28 years old, Tatupu's best and most productive seasons appear to be behind him. The former USC star's three Pro Bowl appearances were in his first three seasons, '05,  '06 and '07, when he had over 100 tackles each year. He has not reached that mark since, and missed much of the '09 season due to injury. This past offseason Tatupu had surgery on both knees.
