Ryan Torain Injury A Fractured Wrist, Will Sideline Redskins' RB For 7-10 Days

Ryan Torain's injury is indeed a fractured wrist, according to Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan. Shanahan said Torain had four screws inserted into his third metacarpal bone in his wrist, and estimated that he would be sidelined for 7-10 days.

It's not immediately clear exactly when Torain suffered the injury, but he was pulled from Wednesday's practice and underwent X-Rays on Wednesday night. Evidently, they revealed the bad news.

Torain has been effective when he has been able to take the field, but has struggled with injuries throughout his NFL career. His injury issues were one reason the Redskins dealt for former Arizona Cardinals running back Tim Hightower. Torain's injury will also give rookie running backs Roy Helu and Evan Royster a chance to make their mark in the running back competition.
