Washington Redskins quarterback John Beck has been limited during the last few practices of training camp with a groin injury, throwing his availability for Friday's preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers into doubt. But Beck himself said Monday that he doesn't expect the injury to linger until then.

Slowed by a groin injury, quarterback John Beck says he'll be ready to play in Friday's preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"That's my plan," Beck said after practice Monday morning. "I plan on going. Hopefully each day, it gets better and better, so that I can. But that's my plan."
It's not a huge surprise Beck would say this, of course. Given everything he has done to put himself in a position to be the Redskins' starting quarterback, a groin injury like this isn't going to derail all of that.
