Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Rex Grossman Could Put Up Big Numbers In Week 2

If you're looking for fantasy help at the quarterback position, Rex Grossman just might be your guy.

Did you skip your fantasy football draft and the computer auto-drafted Peyton Manning for you in round three, and you have Sam Bradford as your backup quarterback but you’re worried he might not be 100% in Week 2, and you picked up Kerry Collins to replace Manning but now realize that he sucks? Are you also a masochist? If all this is true, then you should probably rush to the fantasy football waiver wire and pick up Rex Grossman.

Some fantasy football owners are surely tempted to grab Grossman this week, salivating over the idea of Grossman picking up where Cam Newton left off against the Arizona Cardinals defense. Newton passed for 422 yards and two touchdowns (plus another rushing touchdown) and was the third rated fantasy quarterback in Week 1. Grossman put up similarly staggering numbers, throwing for 305 yards and two touchdowns while putting up 18.20 fantasy points.

If he can continue to run the Redskins’ offense efficiently, Grossman could be a strong waiver wire grab who fills in as your fantasy quarterback when he has a favorable matchup. While his matchup against the Cardinals sure might look favorable, he’s projected by Numberfire to earn only 12.64 fantasy points. Starting Grossman this early in the season might not be worth the risk if you also have other good options on your roster or available in free agency.
