Week 1 ACC Football Scores: Wake Forest Blows Big Lead, Loses To Syracuse

For three quarters, it looked like Wake Forest was going to start their 2011 season on a much higher note than it ended its 2010 season. The Demon Deacons, who were just 3-9 last season, raced ahead of improving Syracuse in the Carrier Dome, taking a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter.

But then, disaster struck. Syracuse eventually stormed back to tie the score in the fourth quarter, then won the game on the first overtime. Ryan Nassib found Van Chew for a four-yard touchdown, and the Orange held Wake Forest to a four-and-out to clinch the game. The loss left SB Nation's Wake Forest blog Blogger So Dear distraught.

There's no point in even writing this postgame article.

You can fill in the blank any way you want. Wake games have become Mad Libs. I don't even have to watch them any more.

In other ACC action, Georgia Tech unsurprisingly had little trouble with Western Carolina, winning 63-21. For more on that game, visit SB Nation Atlanta and From the Rumble Seat.
