Monday, three players looking to earn the Washington Capitals' final roster spot left a lasting mark. Wednesday in Nashville, five forwards on the proverbial bubble hope to impress once again as the Caps face the Predators at Bridgestone Arena.
In a 3-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday at Verizon Center, Chris Bourque, Mathieu Perreault and Cody Eakin combined for six points (two goals, four assists), with Bourque leading all scorers with three assists. Bourque will not travel to Nashville Wednesday, but Perreault and Eakin will return to the lineup along with Jay Beagle, D.J. King and Mattias Sjogren. NHL rosters must be set by next Wednesday by 3 p.m. EST, so there is just one week left for one of the aforementioned players to stand out.
This will be the second match-up between the Caps and Predators this preseason; the Predators defeated the Caps 2-0 at the Batlimore Hockey Classic last Tuesday.
