US Soccer, Brazil May Play Game At RFK Stadium In May, According To Report

FedEx field hosted a soccer game of international importance over the Summer when Barcelona and Manchester United played a friendly there. Now it seems like they could be gearing up to host another big soccer match at the home of the Redskins. But this time, it could feature the United States Men's National Team against one of the most recognizable International teams in all of soccer.

According to Steven Goff of the Washington Post, the Brazilian National team will be going on a Friendly tour later this year including a matchup with the USMNT. That game could be held at FedEx Field.

The Brazilian federation announced a series of matches, including friendlies against Mexico in the Dallas area and Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The U.S. game would be played May 30 or 31 in Boston (Foxborough) or Washington, according to the CBF. The Insider has learned that the sides have, indeed, had discussions but no contracts have been signed and several venues have been discussed.

That would be a huge game for the area, because unlike the game last year, one of the teams playing here will have ties to the area. Manchester United and Barcelona are two great teams, but there might be some more excitement if the USMNT is playing in our own backyard. Especially considering the talent they could be going up against.
