On Friday Night, Anacostia, D.C. native Mike "The Hulk" Easton will be fighting on the UFC on FX 1 fight card. This will be Easton's second bout in the UFC and he'll be taking on Jared Papazian in a bantamweight match. The 27-year old is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but he's known as a well-rounded fighter and claims he's the hardest puncher in the bantamweight division.
Recently, Easton spoke with MMA Nation's Luke Thomas on 106.7 The Fan about his next match up.
Despite this bout being just his second in the UFC, he sports an 11-1 career record with 4 TKO's and 2 submissions. His one loss came to Reynaldo Walter Duarte back in 2007, when he was forced to end the fight with a fractured arm. Since that loss, he's undefeated and looking to pick up another victory on Friday night. Easton fights out of the Alliance MMA gym in Maryland, as he prefers to stay close to DC. Easton also feels that staying on the east coast and near DC adds a bit of "grittyness" to his game, saying that DC is a bit of a rough city to grow up in.
His first UFC bout was on UFC on Versus 6 in his hometown of Washington, DC. His first bout in the UFC was in a catchweight bout with Byron Bloodworth, who couldn't make the 135 pound weight limit. Easton TKOed Bloodworth in the second round with a combination of knees and punches.
Easton is in one of the three featured fights of the night and will be the first one shown live. The fights begin at 9:00 p.m. ET and will be shown live on FX.
