Jussi Jokinen entered Friday's game against the Washington Capitals with just one goal at home. He has tripled that total through 40 minutes.
Jokinen's second goal of the game has given the Carolina Hurricanes a 2-0 lead at the end of the second period.
With Dennis Wideman in the penalty box for interference, Carolina took advantage of the man advantage when Jokinen collected the rebound of Jay Harrison's point shot and beat Tomas Vokoun for his second goal of the game and seventh of the season at 19:42.
Other than allowing Jokinen's goal, Vokoun has been on top of his game and is single-handedly keeping the Caps within striking distance. He made 14 saves in the second period and has 23 through 40 minutes.
Carolina has dominated play throughout the game and Washington is doing what it can to hold on despite just 15 shots on goal and several turnovers.
