Maryland Vs. Temple: Terps Face Owls Looking For Quality Road Win At The Palestra

The Maryland Terrapins look to rebound from the loss to Florida State against a quality non-conference opponent in Temple.

The Maryland Terrapins travel up I-95, looking to rebound from their loss to Florida State with an early Saturday matchup against the Temple Owls. The Terps and Owls will tip off the Saturday college hoops action at the famed Palestra in Philadelphia. Both teams share identical records at 12-5, with the Owls marquee win coming over ACC brethren Duke. Temple roughed up the Blue Devils a little over two weeks ago and will look to match that performance against Maryland.

Fran Dunphy's club is led by Juan Fernandez, who seems like he has been there for over a decade now. The senior guard sets the pace and controls the team in Dunphy's offense, averaging 11.5 points per game and a team-high four assists per game. Fellow senior guard Ramone Moore leads the team in scoring, averaging 17 points a game. The two senior guards combine with Khalif Wyatt to present a triple-headed monster in the backcourt. It should be fun to watch Sean Mosley and Terrell Stoglin match up with this group.

This is Maryland's final non-conference game of the season, providing a respite from ACC play before Duke comes calling on Wednesday. It's a huge opportunity for a quality road win as the Owls are projected as either a tournament team or right on the bubble. Dunphy's teams are always tough to play at home, but Mark Turgeon should consider this a golden opportunity to make a statement out-of-conference with a full roster.
