The firing comes on the heels of one of Washington's most disappointing games of the year, a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in which they trailed by 30 points around halftime. In a season-long string of poor performances, this was the one that finally broke the camel's back.
Saunders has been with the Wizards for two seasons and failed to surpass 26 wins in either of the two full seasons he spent in Washington. He had a 51-130 record in parts of three seasons in the Nation's Capital.
We'll have plenty more on the fallout from this firing and who the Wizards elect to replace Saunders with, so keep it locked to this StoryStream. For more on this firing and all things related to the Wizards please head over to Bullets Forever.
