Despite the fact that the Washington Nationals have only scored seven runs in the first three games of their National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals, manager Davey Johnson has kept faith with the same lineup for Thursday's Game 4 at Nationals Park.
The Nats won 98 games during the 2012 regular season, but their season will end with one loss in either of the next two games.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny has made no changes to his lineup, which has scored 22 runs in the first three games of the series.
St. Louis Cardinals
1. Jon Jay, CF
2. Carlos Beltran, RF
3. Matt Holliday, LF
4. Allen Craig, 1B
5. Yadier Molina, C
6. David Freese, 3B
7. Daniel Descalso, 2B
8. Pete Kozma, SS
9. Kyle Lohse, P
Washington Nationals
1. Jayson Werth, RF
2. Bryce Harper, CF
3. Ryan Zimmerman, 3B
4. Adam LaRoche, 1B
5. Michael Morse, LF
6. Ian Desmond, SS
7. Danny Espinosa, 2B
8. Kurt Suzuki, C
9. Ross Detwiler, P
Detwiler posted a solid 10-8 record with a 3.40 ERA in 2012, but struggled against the Cardinals in his final regular season start, going just 2.1 innings and allowing seven runs (three earned) on four hits and five walks. Johnson said Thursday that all hands were on deck for Washington should Detwiler struggle, with the exception of Gio Gonzalez, who is being held in reserve for a possible Game 5 Friday night. Game 2 starter Jordan Zimmermann would likely be first out of bullpen if long relief is needed.
