Navy Midshipmen quarterback Keenan Reynolds got off to a good start in his first ever start. The freshman threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter of the team's Friday night game against the Central Michigan Chippewas, leading the Midshipmen to a 14-3 lead.
The first touchdown pass was a 23-yard connection to Brandon Turner on Navy's first drive that put the Midshipmen up 7-0. After the Chippewas answered back with a field goal on their ensuing drive, Reynolds completed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Gee Gee Greene to make the score 14-3.
Reynolds accounted for 113 of Navy's 155 total yards in the first half, with 74 coming through the air (on 4-5 passing) and 39 coming on the ground on nine carries. Reynolds' stellar first quarter play was backed up by a defense that locked down Central Michigan's offense after that first drive, allowing only 22 total yards (eight passing, 14 rushing).
