Alabama is the unanimous top team in the land, receiving every first-place vote in the Associated Press poll for week eight after a convincing 42-10 victory over the Missouri Tigers in Columbia. Oregon also holds on to their No. 2 spot after a bye week.

The rest of the top 10 changed significantly, with South Carolina's loss to LSU and West Virginia's loss to Texas Tech having a significant impact on the rankings. Florida took South Carolina's No. 3 spot in this week's rankings, while Kansas State and Notre Dame round out the top five of the poll. LSU jumped to No. 6, and Oregon State jumped to No. 8 after beating BYU in Provo.

For their losses, South Carolina and West Virginia fell to Nos. 9 and 17, respectively.

Falling out of the poll were Texas and Louisiana Tech, who lost to Oklahoma and Texas A&M respectively. Replacing them are Texas Tech and Ohio, who enter the poll at Nos. 18 and 25 respectively.
