Virginia Tech starting center Andrew Miller underwent surgery Sunday and will be out for the remainder of the season.
The surgery helped repair a Maisonneuve fracture he suffered in Saturday's 41-20 win over Duke.
Miller, a two-year starter and Rimington Award candidate at the center position, suffered the injury in the third quarter of the game and was replaced by Michael Via. Via was forced to move into the position because back-up center Caleb Farris missed Saturday's game with an ankle injury. Miller has started the last 21 games at center for Tech and has played over 1,400 offensive snaps in his career.
Miller is looking at a recovery time up to five months, so he may not be ready for spring practice.
Virginia running back Perry Jones left Saturday's 27-20 loss to Maryland in the third quarter with an injury. He was replaced by Kevin Parks, who rushed for a career-high 129 yards in the loss.
