The Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers are the lone ACC representatives in the opening BCS rankings of the 2012 season.
Florida State comes in at No. 14 after their dominant 51-7 victory over hapless Boston College. However, their No. 14 ranking is primarily due to the 6-1 Seminoles' status in the human polls. The Seminoles are ranked eighth in the Harris Poll and 10th in the USA Today poll, but the computer rankings were not kind to them at all. Only Jeff Sagarin's rankings have them placed in the top 25, at No. 23.
Similar can be said for Clemson, who check in at No. 19 in the BCS rankings. The Tigers are ranked 13th in both the Harris and USA Today polls, but only Richard Billingsley's computer rankings have them in the top 25, at No. 22.
The Alabama Crimson Tide open at the top of the rankings. The Tide are followed by Florida, Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame.
