Maryland quarterback Perry Hills was carted off the field after injuring his left leg in the second quarter of the Terrapins' game against the North Carolina State Wolfpack.
Hills, a freshman, suffered the injury after throwing an interception deep in Wolfpack territory with 43 seconds left in the first half. He struggled to put any weight on the leg, forcing the cart to take him to the locker room.
The injury is a huge blow to the Maryland offense. Hills, who had thrown for 159 yards in the half, is the only quarterback on the Terrapins who has thrown a collegiate pass prior to Saturday's action. Backup quarterback C.J. Brown is hurt and Danny O'Brien transferred to Wisconsin. Sophomore Devin Burns has taken over the quarterback duties in place of Hills.
Burns will have his work cut out for him, as Maryland trails North Carolina State 10-3 at the beginning of the second half.
