Maryland vs. Boston College Scoring Update: Eagles Take Early Lead Over Terps, 7-0 After First

Neither team looks particularly good, but it is the Boston College Eagles who lead the visiting Terrapins 7-0 after a first quarter Chase Rettig touchdown.

After an opening drive three-and-out for Maryland where Caleb Rowe passed three times, Boston College went to work quickly. Spiffy Evans returned a punt 26 yards and Chase Rettig completed a pass down the sideline to Alex Amidon for a 19-yard gain, setting the Eagles up with an opportunity in the redzone. Rettig executed a nice play-action fake and found running back David Dudeck past Demetrius Hartsfield in the end zone for the score, giving BC a 7-0 lead.

Evans returned a punt after Maryland's next drive 72 yards, and Andre Williams ran for 15 yards on the next play to give the Eagles the ball on the Terps' four. On the next play, Cole Farrand forced a fumble, and Darius Kilgo recovered in the end zone for a big touchback.

On the next drive, Rowe started to get it all together. After an incomplete pass to Stefon Diggs and a false start penalty, he completed five passes in a row - two to Diggs and one apiece to Nigel King, Devonte Campbell and Wes Brown - for a combined 30 yards. Brown followed that up with a 17-yard run, giving Maryland a first down in BC territory. Rowe was able to complete two more passes to Diggs on the drive, but freshman kicker Brad Craddock missed a 35-yard field goal from the right hash.

Rowe finished the quarter 10/19 for 67 yards, and Diggs was the only receiver with more than one catch (six for 41 yards). Brown ran seven times for 34 yards. For BC, Retting is 5/9 for 67 yards and the touchdown, with Alex Amidon his top target (three catches for 40 yards). Williams has three rushes for 19 yards.
