The Washington Wizards have trimmed their roster by two and now have their 15-man roster finalized. The Wizards announced on Sunday that center/forward Brian Cook and guard Shelvin Mack had been waived. Mack was waived despite having a partially-guaranteed rookie contract.
Cook was acquired by the Wizards in the March 15, 2012 three-team trade which brought Nene to Washington. Cook was re-signed in mid-September. In 16 games for the Wizards last season, Cook averaged 3.1 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. In the 2012 preseason, Cook averaged 3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in seven games.
Mack was drafted by the Wizards with the 34th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. Mack averaged 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 12.2 minutes per game as a rookie. Mack averaged 4.1 points per game in eight 2012 preseason games.
