The Howard Bison will kick off their 2012-13 basketball season on Saturday afternoon, when the Bison play host to the Lincoln Lions.
Howard is coming off of a lackluster 10-21 season in 2011-12, and will certainly look to improve on that mark in 2012-13. The Bison, however, were a very young team last year, and at one point started five freshmen down the stretch.
Howard fans and alums will hope that the experience the young players picked up last year will translate into success this season, as the Bison will attempt to make the NCAA tournament for only the third time in school history -- and for the first time since 1992. Howard has never won an NCAA tournament game in its history.
Lincoln, located in Pennsylvania, is a member of the CIAA -- the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, which competes in Division II sports.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET from the Burr Gymnasium at Howard University.
