It's been a long first half for both defenses in Virginia, as the Virginia Cavaliers lead the Miami Hurricanes at halftime, 28-24.
Virginia's two quarterback attack has been successful against Miami. Michael Rocco finished the first half 11-of-12 passing for 166 yards and two touchdowns, while Phillip Sims finished the first half 4-of-6 passing for 32 yards.
The Cavaliers did have running back Perry Jones attempt a pass, but it was promptly intercepted.
Virginia maintains a lead at halftime despite the strong play of Miami running back Duke Johnson. Johnson has six carries for 86 yards, including a 52-yard run. Johnson, like Jones, attempted a pass for Miami, but completed it -- an 8-yard touchdown strike to Allen Hurns, putting Miami on the board in the first quarter.
Johnson also contributed on special teams, returning a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Virginia leads Miami in total yards through the first half, outgaining the Hurricanes, 287-221.
