Lincoln (Pa.) erased a 8-point halftime deficit by outscoring Howard 44-30 in the second half to defeat the Bison, 68-62 on Saturday.
Howard was up 32-24 at half before Lincoln opened the second half on a 15-0 run to take a 39-32 lead with 16:03 left in the game. The Bison answered with a 13-3 run to again jump out in front, 45-42, with 12:20 left in the game before Lincoln pulled away late.
Lincoln's win was its first ever over a Division I opponent.
Howard finished 10-21 last season but finished the year winning six of its last night games after head coach Kevin Nickelberry started five freshmen in the final stretch. Lincoln was 11-18 last season but returns four of five starters from last year.
At 0-1, the Bison will travel to play Iowa Nov. 15 before traveling to Wichita, Kan., to face Wichita State Nov. 17 in the opening round of the Cancun Classic.
