The Washington Wizards lost their eighth straight game to start the season Saturday, falling to the Utah Jazz 83-76 to move to 0-3 at the Verizon Center this year. The Wizards jumped out to an early 11-0 lead, but the Jazz battled back to within two points at the end the first quarter. Washington clung to a two-point lead at half, and only trailed by two entering the fourth. The Wizards, however, only scored thirteen points in the final quarter, their lowest scoring quarter of the game.
Jordan Crawford played well in the starter's role, leading Washington with 20 points and dishing out eight assists.Trevor Ariza scored 16 points, all of them coming in the first two quarters. The swingman shot 7-15 from the floor, and added nine rebounds and three steals. Emeka Okafor grabbed 14 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass, while Bradley Beal and Kevin Seraphin led the Wizards bench players with six points apiece.
Al Jefferson led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 10-19 from the field and grabbing 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double in his last five games. Gordon Hayward played well for the Jazz off the bench, scoring 15 points and shooting 6-6 from the free-throw line.
