With all the commotion in FBS football this weekend, Sunday marked the beginning of the FCS playoffs as the bracket was announced for the highest division of NCAA football to determine its championship with a playoff.
Old Dominion finished the regular season 10-1 and was given the fourth seed overall and awaits the winner of a first-round matchup between Bethune-Cookman and Costal Carolina. The regular season Costal Athletic Association champions, Old Dominion will begin their postseason on Dec. 1.
Also being drawn straight into the second round is New Hampshire, who will face Wofford on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
The Villanova Wildcats will have to play in the opening round, taking on Stony Brook on Nov. 24 at 3 p.m. The winner of that first round game will move on to face the No. 3 overall seed, Montana St. on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.
The FCS playoff format is a 20 team playoff with 12 teams receiving byes into the second round and eight others playing in the first round with the winners of those games meeting the top seeds in the next round. The national championship game will be played Jan. 5 in Frisco, Tex.
