After losing two games in the South Padre Island Invitational by two points, the Navy Midshipmen salvaged their time in Texas with a 63-53 victory over the Delaware St. Hornets, their lone win in the event. The Mids were aided by four three-pointers by guard Brandon Venturini, who finished with 14 points, leading all scorers.
At halftime, the Mids led, 35-20. Right after halftime, Venturini drained a trio of three-pointers to push the lead to 44-20. While the Hornets would cut into the lead, they would never trail by fewer than 10 points. Guard Tilman Dunbar scored 11 points as well, while guard Kendall Knorr added eight points off the bench thanks to a pair of three-pointers.
The win was No. 225 in the career of Midshipmen head coach Ed DeChellis. The Mids' next game will be Wednesday, Nov. 28, as they play the IPFW Mastodons at Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Md. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
