Georgetown vs. Florida preview, time, TV schedule, and more

The Georgetown Hoyas will make their 2012 debut coming off a 24-9 season.

The Georgetown Hoyas will open their 2012 season against the No. 10 Florida Gators aboard the USS Bataan in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday night. For both teams, the Navy-Marine Corps Classic is about more than basketball. Players and coaches had a chance to tour the amphibious assault ship and meet crew members on Thursday.

Coaches John Thompson III and Billy Donovan will have to worry about some unusual factors on Friday night. Wind and lighting will be new distractions, while temperatures will dip into the 50s. There is some worry that condensation could make the court slippery.

Georgetown enters the season without its top three scorers from last year, as Jason Clark and Henry Sims graduated, and junior Hollis Thompson left early.

The two teams have not met since the 2006 NCAA tournament, when Florida won and advanced to the Elite Eight.
