The third-seeded Georgetown men's soccer team will host the San Diego Toreros Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET at North Kehoe Field in Northwest Washington, D.C. Georgetown made it past Charlotte, 1-0, in the second round of the Men's College Cup (after a first-round bye), and beat Big East rival Syracuse on penalty kicks in the third round to make it to the quarterfinals.
San Diego, which came into the tournament as an unseeded qualifier, beat Cal State Northridge, 2-1, in the first round, upset No. 6 seed UCLA, 5-2, in the second and upset No. 11 Tulsa, 2-1, in the third.
Georgetown will be relying on freshman forward Brandon Allen, who scored their lone goal against Syracuse. Joining Allen, the Big East Rookie of the Year, as big-time contributors are senior midfielder Ian Christianson and junior forward Steve Neumann, both first-team All-Big East selections. The game will be broadcast live, and free of charge, on Georgetown's website, www.GUHoyas.com.
