The Navy Midshipmen men's basketball team fell on the road Saturday to Tulane 51-41, despite the Mids holding the Green Wave to just 28 percent shooting for the game. Navy shot 37% from the floor in the contest, but trailed 23-13 at halftime and were unable to make up the difference in an even second half.
Navy was entering the game on a modest two-game winning streak after toppling IPFW 54-49 on Wednesday. Tulane has now won three games in a row, and all six games played at newly renovated Devlin Fieldhouse this season.
Navy entered the game holding opponents to just 53.4 points per contest, and held Tulane below that threshold, but the Midshipmen scored 17 points less than their season average (58.0 points per game). Brandon Venturini and Worth Smith led Navy will 11 points apiece in defeat.
Tulane was led to victory by the 17 points and 10 rebounds of Josh Davis, scored in just 25 minutes of play due to foul trouble, and 10 points from Jordan Callahan.
