Losers of two straight games since their 105-101 victory over the Heat last week, the Washington Wizards begin a quick back-to-back road swing Tuesday night against the New Orleans Hornets.
The Hornets enter Tuesday's game as the last-place team in the Western Conference, sporting a record of just 5-14 and a three-game losing streak. However, New Orleans should get a boost Tuesday with the return of Anthony Davis from an ankle injury that's kept him out since November 17. Davis, who was averaging 16.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in 28.3 minutes per game before his injury, will come off the bench, according to Hornets head coach Monty Williams.
Tuesday's game will also mark the return to New Orleans of Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor, who the Wizards acquired in an offseason trade. SB Nation's Hornets blog At The Hive revisited the trade recently, and came to this conclusion.
Yes, the duo we shipped off to the nation's capital has been that bad. They comprise roughly 1/3 of the Wizard's payroll but have played in under 19% of the available minutes. That's unacceptable that on a bad team, they have simply been worse than most of their counterparts. We really do owe their fans some type of condolence letter.
