Nationals announce 2013 minor league managers, coaching staffs

Nats promote Brian Daubach and Tripp Kiester as they announce who will be leading the youngsters.

The Washington Nationals named their minor league coaching staffs for the 2013 Friday. Two managers, Brian Daubach and Tripp Kiester, were promoted. Daubach was bumped from Single-A Hagerstown to High-A Potomac, and Kiester was bumped from the Gulf Coast League to Single-A Hagerstown.

Daubach will take hitting coach Mark Harris with him from Hagerstown down to Woodbridge, Va., with the Potomac Nationals. Patrick Anderson was hired from outside the system to replace Kiester in the Gulf Coast League.

Tony Tarasco was promoted to first base coach from his old job coordinating the minor league outfield and baserunning coaching. He was instrumental in turning Bryce Harper from a high school and college catcher into a big league centerfielder. Though Denard Span will replace Harper in the middle of the outfield, it's now pretty safe to say Harper will be a plus defender in his corner outfield spot. Tarasco deserved the promotion. Gary Thurman will replace him as the outfield/baserunning coordinator.
