And then there were eight. In the FCS playoffs, Old Dominion took care of business against Coastal Carolina, winning 63-35 at F.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk, Va. on Saturday.
Old Dominion scored at will, racking 672 yards of offense against an overmatched foe. Quarterback Tyler Heinicke was unstoppable throughout the contest, throwing for 497 yards and six touchdowns. The signal caller also rushed for 45 yards and a two touchdowns.
Eight different receivers had receptions, including Nick Mayers and Larry Pinkard, who both went for over 100 yards on the day.
Mayers had 103 yards and a touchdown while Pinkard had a game to remember with 154 yards on six receptions and a trio of touchdowns. Blair Roberts also caught a pair of scores from Heinicke.
Defensively, Old Dominion wasn't nearly as effective, but got the job done anyway. Coastal Carolina put up 540 yards, including 352 through the air.
