The college football season had many twists and turns, but it finally all shook out at the end.
Now, Jason Kirk gives us his final bowl projections before all of the bids are announced. Of course, the BCS National Championship Game is already known, with the No.1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish set to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in Miami.
Locally, only the Virginia Tech Hokies are carrying the flag, albeit in a very subpar season by Frank Beamer's measure. Kirk has the Hokies playing in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando, Florida against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Dec. 28.
Logan Thomas and co. struggled throughout the year to make something happen consistently, leading to a small bowl appearance.
Another local team earning a bowl bid are the Navy Midshipmen, projected to play in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Other games of interest that Kirk projects include the West Virginia Mountaineers and Syracuse Orange at the Pinstripe Bowl and the Nebraska Cornhuskers playing the Texas A&M Aggies at the Capital One Bowl.
