After a few days of waiting, the San Jose State Spartans learned Sunday that they will be facing the Bowling Green Falcons in the 2012 Military Bowl in Washington, D.C. The game will take place at RFK Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. ET.
San Jose State finished their season 10-2 and 5-1 in the WAC, which was good for second place behind Utah State. The Spartans are No. 24 in the BCS standings, AP Poll and USA Today Coaches' Poll. San Jose State is led by quarterback David Fales, who has engineered an explosive Spartans passing attack that is ranked 11th in the country. On the season, Fales has thrown for 3798 yards with 31 touchdowns to just nine interceptions.
Bowling Green went 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the MAC, finishing second in the East Division behind Kent State. The Falcons' defense will provide San Jose's prolific passing attack with quite the challenge, as Bowling Green is giving up just 15.8 points per game on the season. That number is ninth-best in the nation.
This is San Jose State's first bowl appearance since winning the New Mexico Bowl in 2006. Bowling Green last went to a bowl in 2009, when they lost to Idaho in the Humanitarian Bowl.
