Last spring, the Washington Redskins had to give up a lot to land quarterback Robert Griffin III. Part of the package they sent to St. Louis in exchange for the No. 2 overall pick was their first round selection in 2013.
While all eyes are on the Redskins' playoff journey that is set to begin next weekend, mock drafts for the 2013 NFL Draft are starting to pop up. While the finalized order is not set, the Rams will have the Redskins' first round pick, which will fall somewhere in the 21-32 range depending on how far they go in the postseason.
Dan Kadar of SB Nation recently released his mock draft for the first round. Holding the No. 21 overall pick, St. Louis selected offensive tackle Eric Fisher, an offensive tackle out of Central Michigan. Here is what Kadar had to say about Fisher, who stands at an imposing 6'8 and 305 lb.
In 2010, the 49ers doubled up on offensive linemen in the first round and it's turned out to be a great move. The Rams may be wise to do the same by adding a high-upside player like Fisher with their second pick in the first round. Fisher has great size for a left tackle and enough foot quickness get to the edge.
