Bracketology 2012: Hoyas Come In As A No. 3 Seed, Maryland Misses Cut

In the latest edition of SB Nation bracketology, the Georgetown Hoyas come in as a No. 3 seed in the Midwest regional.

The guys over at SB Nation put in the painstaking work of compiling a mock bracket to project where each team would be placed in the NCAA Tournament if the Season ended today. It's an awful lot of work, and it could be out of date if even one of the teams ranked highly loses tonight, but it is still fun to speculate.

Only one local team makes the cut. The Georgetown Hoyas come in as a No. 3 seed in the Midwest region and have a matchup with 14th seeded Nevada in the first round. Their bracket features Missouri as the No. 1 seed and Ohio St. as the No. 2, which is a pretty strong set of teams at the top. The No. 4 seed Indiana is no cake walk either.

Maryland and George Mason don't make the cut, and they aren't even listed on the first four, or next four, out of the tournament. So it will be an uphill battle to try and get into the tournament this late in the Season. Mason does have an important matchup against VCU this week that could get them on the right track however.

We'll be covering the ever evolving bracketology in this StoryStream, so keep it locked to SB Nation D.C. for more updates.
