The NFL season is over, March Madness is yet to come, and it's the time of year where the unrelenting cold of February is interrupted by the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in mailboxes all around the country. On Monday night, the 2012 Swimsuit Issue cover was unveiled on the Late Show with David Letterman. This year's cover model is nineteen year-old Kate Upton.

To keep it loosely connected to sports, the magazine had Brazilian supermodel Bar Refaeli pose with three athletes who dominate their respective sports.

SI had Refaeli do photo shoots with tennis superstar Rafael Nadal, Los Angeles Clippers' point guard Chris Paul, and swimmer Michael Phelps, a native of Maryland. But the highlight of Monday night was certainly the unveiling of Upton on the highly-coveted cover spot.
