Braden Holtby got thrown into a tough spot Monday night. As he described it after a 5-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks, he was told that he was needed in Washington at around 9:30 a.m. and wasn't informed that he would start until around 2 p.m., when he arrived at Verizon Center.
That's all well and good, but it still doesn't make the piece of video you're about to see any less gut-wrenching, especially if you're a Washington Capitals fan.
As it happened, Holtby was sent down to Hershey this morning, which makes sense. After all, the only reason he was called up in the first place was because Tomas Vokoun was suffering from a nasty bout of flu (which also kept Vokoun from starting Sunday's game against the New York Rangers). However, this certainly is not a good image to head back to Hershey with, and you can bet Holtby will be anxious for another opportunity to redeem himself. Goalies are different, after all.
