After two World Cups serving as the color commentator for ESPN, John harks will return to CSN in the same capacity for the upcoming United season, according to Steven Goff of the Washington Post.
Harkes, who was let go by ESPN last fall, will replace Thomas Rongen, who has taken a full-time position overseeing Toronto FC’s youth academy. Harkes, who has had a home in Northern Virginia since 1996, will reunite with longtime play-by-play man Dave Johnson — the pair worked together at Comcast after Harkes retired in 2003.
Harkes was a local star at the University of Virginia before starting his career with United as a part of their '96 and '97 Championship squads. He was traded to the New England Revolution later in his career.
Goff also touches on the new partnership deal with CSN which is expected to be finalized this week. He claims that all but three or four of the matches this year will be televised by one of either CSN, ESPN or NBC.
