Miami Vs. Maryland Recap: Terps Come Back In Final Two Minutes For 75-70 Win Over Hurricanes

The Maryland Terrapins staged a final-minute comeback on Tuesday night for a thrilling 75-70 win over the Miami Hurricanes at the Comcast Center. The Terps found themselves down five with two minutes to play, but Mark Turgeon's club would step up the pressure on the defensive end, forcing several turnovers and holding the Canes to just four points during crunch time. Maryland closed the game on a 16-4 run, and Miami's two buckets were conceded with the Terps guarding the three-point line and avoiding the foul on penetration.

James Padgett had a huge game for the Terps, scoring 16 points and grabbing six rebounds. None was bigger than an offensive rebound which he put back up to tie the game at 66 while drawing a foul. Padgett cooly completed the three-point play to give Maryland the 67-66 lead with 40 seconds to play. It was the Terps' first lead in more than 10 minutes. On Miami's subsequent possession, Nick Faust picked the pocket of Durand Scott and Sean Mosley sank his free throws to give Maryland a three-point lead just like that. As a team, Maryland hit 19 of 22 attempts from the free-throw line.

As he usually does, Terrell Stoglin led all scorers, finishing with 20 points. But Stoglin had an off night and Padgett, along with Mosley, were there for added scoring punch. The Terps have had trouble against some of the league's big men this season and Miami's Kenny Kadji had a big game on the interior for the Canes. Kadji finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. But Miami had no answers on the offensive end when it mattered.

Maryland now travels to Georgia Tech on Saturday, looking to pull even in the ACC.
