Villanova Vs. Georgetown: Hoyas Dominate Early, But Only Lead Wildcats 30-23 At Halftime

The Georgetown Hoyas came out in impressive fashion against familiar foe Villanova, clamping down on defense and scoring at the other end in easy and various ways, but Jay Wright's Wildcats fought back and trail just 30-23 at halftime.

Jason Clark and Otto Porter have paced the Hoyas in the first stanza. Both players have nine points and three rebounds, which is especially impressive for Porter as he was inadvertently elbowed in the face 30 seconds into the game and returned five minutes later to amass those totals.

Villanova has been led by guard Dominic Cheek, who has 13 of the Wildcats' 23 points, and also has chipped in three steals and three rebounds.

Georgetown has held Villanova to 32 percent shooting in the half (eight of 25 from the floor). The Hoyas have not helped themselves, turning the ball over seven times against just six assists.
