George Mason Vs. VCU: Patriots Dig Themselves A Huge Hole, Trail 43-27 At Halftime

With 20 minutes completed in Richmond, Va., the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams are well on their way to avenging their one-point loss at the buzzer to George Mason February 14. The Rams lead George Mason 43-27 at halftime in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The game was tied 16-16 after a Vaughn Gray free throw with 11:38 to go in the first half. From there, however, VCU outscored George Mason 27-11 to take a 16-point lead into halftime.

Bradford Burgess and Troy Daniels lead all scorers with 13 and 12 points for the Rams, respectively. Ryan Pearson (11 points) is the only Patriot in double figures.

The winner of today's game will receive the No.2 seed in next week's CAA Tournament in Richmond. The Drexel Dragons locked up the CAA regular season title earlier Saturday by defeating Old Dominion University 73-72 in Norfolk, Va. The loser will receive the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
