After hanging with the Florida Gators through much of the first half, the Virginia Cavaliers were blown out in the final 20 minutes, and suffered a season-ending 71-45 loss Friday afternoon.
After Virginia cut the deficit to 36-30 with 17:29 to play, they would not get any closer the rest of the game, as Florida then exploded for a 15-2 run and never looked back.
The Gators were led by Bradley Beal, who scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Patric Young was very impressive, scoring 13 points and shooting a perfect 6-for-6 after coming off the bench. Casey Prather also had a big day off the bench, scoring 14 points and shooting 6-of-7 from the floor.
Mike Scott was the lone bright spot for the Cavs, as he was the only Virginia player to reach double digits with 15 points.
Florida will now advance to the third round and play the winner of the Missouri-Norfolk State contest.
