NCAA Tournament 2012: Norfolk State's Run Ends At Hands Of Florida

Norfolk State's stay in the 2012 NCAA Tournament produced one shining moment, but the ride came to an abrupt end at the hands of the Florida Gators Sunday night in Omaha, Nebraska. With their 84-50 win, the No. 7 seed Gators advanced to play Marquette in the West Region regional semifinals Friday night in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Gators used a 25-0 first-half run as a springboard to a 47-19 halftime lead, and the second 20 minutes was essentially a formality. Kenny Boynton led the way for the Gators with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists, while Erving Walker added 15 points, Bradley Beal chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds, and Erik Murphy chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The only Norfolk State player to score in double figures was Marcos Tamares, who scored 12 points. Kyle O'Quinn, the hero of Friday's win over No. 2 seed Missouri, finished with four points and three rebounds on 1-for-9 shooting.
