Nationals Spring Training 2012: Nats Open With Exhibition Against Georgetown

The Washington nationals have been taking batting practice and shagging fly balls for a couple of weeks now but they'll start with some actual game action on Friday, even if the competition isn't exactly major league level. They'll face the Georgetown baseball team down in Florida on Friday afternoon, in what will be the professional debuts for some of their recent draft picks. The game starts at Noon, and here is the lineup, via Mark Zuckerman.

So it appears that the Nationals aren't going to put out their big guns, but Bryce Harper is hitting third, and Anthony Rendon is starting at third base. It will also be interesting to see how Matt Purke, a third round pick in the recent draft because of shoulder issues, pitches after some time off to rest his shoulder.

We'll have much more on Spring Training here at SB Nation DC in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out SB Nation's Nationals blog, Federal Baseball, for more news and notes. And don't forget to visit Baseball Nation, the MLB hub of SB Nation for information from around the league.
